BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW
The Lanesborough Hotel was originally constructed in 1719 as a country manor for the second Viscount Lanesborough, James Lane, and he originally carved a motto above the entrance reading ‘It is my delight to be both in the town and the country’. In those days, Hyde Park Corner was right on the edge of the city.
Although the city has grown exponentially over the last three centuries, the magnificent building has remained in its place, and its conversion into a luxury hotel in 1990 meant reverting the property to the design as it was at the start of the 19th century. The architects and interior designers worked very closely with the Royal Fine Arts Commission and English Heritage to ensure the building retained this authenticity.
With furniture, chandeliers, draperies and fabrics all in-keeping with the style of the 1820s, The Lanesborough Hotel is now an outstanding example of neo-classical design and décor in the heart of London – and the capital’s most successful hotel.
The wonderful Apsley restaurant is just part of the story.
MORE ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Many high-end London restaurants offer a selection of good food with fine wine, but there are few restaurants that combine world-class Michelin-star cuisine with a personal, home-grown champagne tasting from a master sommelier. Now, with this exclusive Lime&Tonic experience, that is in the palm of your hand.
Located in The Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge, ‘Apsleys, a Heinz Beck Restaurant’ is an elegant Venetian-style eatery that incorporates plush upholstery, stunning frescoes and a large glass roof – making it one of London’s most spectacular dining spots. Michelin-star chef Beck’s carefully-crafted menu comprises of light, Mediterranean-inspired dishes, and our exclusive Lime&Tonic experience includes a generous selection of entrée, starter, main course and dessert – including the restaurant’s signature melt-in-the-mouth Carbonara Fagotelli.
Beyond this, the highlight has to be the champagne. With the chardonnay and pinot noir grapes grown by the restaurant, each superb vintage – dating variably from 1996 to 2005 and perfectly-paired with your meal courses – has its own unique story, which will be shared with you by head sommelier Enrico Bucci.
