BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW
Ampersand Hotel's Executive Chef, Chris Golding, has worked at a number of London's best restaurants, including Grangers & Co. in Notting Hill, which was Bill Granger’s first UK restaurant, Nahm, Nobu Berkeley, Mirabelle and The Square, all of which are Michelin-starred. Chris also oversaw the launch of Galoupet in Knightsbridge. All of this experience means that he has a wide array of cuisines and cooking styles to draw upon when creating meals for Ampersand.
But Chris is especially proud of his sharing menu, which he has designed for maximum flavour with minimum calorific intake. The styles of Chris' sharing dishes consist of a variety of Mediterranean food with incredible flavours and the freshness of their ingredients.
Unlike traditional Spanish tapas, Golding's versions are not dependent on heavy meats and frying oils, but rather light, flavourful recipes and amazing flavour combinations. Taking the best of this social meal, which encourages sharing, Golding has created a modern version of tapas that sacrifices calories not flavour. As Golding says, "when creating the menu I was inspired by the European culture of communal eating, where food and drink bring people together".
MORE ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE
Breaking bread has always been the best way to catch up with friends and to bond with family. But let's face it, one can only eat so much bread. Luckily, Chef Chris Golding at the modern Mediterranean Apero Restaurant in the Ampersand Hotel in South Kensington has created a tasty grazing menu that is meant to be shared. In this exclusive Lime&Tonic offer, you and your friends will be treated to a fantastic array of Mediterranean sampler platters that put an emphasis on taste while remaining light and healthy. The flavours are almost as numerous as the dishes!
And those dishes are so delicious, they might just draw your attention away from your friends! Chef Chris Golding uses a fantastic variety of ingredients including tomato, shiso, pepper dressing, cucumber, coriander, lime, chicken, peach, the spices sumac and saffron, squid ink, beetroot and ginger. The dishes he has prepared specially for this grazing menu change daily, but feature some of Apero's best-known flavours.
But the food is only one part of the experience of dining at Apero. The dining room has an elegant, comfortable atmosphere, softly lit with cool white tiles and exposed brick walls. Like the food, the decor is simple, modern and tasteful. The laid-back atmosphere combined with the freshness and quality of the food make Apero the perfect place to catch up with old friends, or maybe even to make some new ones!
